CHARCO NEWS
The heavy rainfall of April 12 did not really affect Charco. Most of the rain fell in Costa Teguise and Arrecife.
Because I was in the Netherlands for a while, this time a special about the Cactus Garden. After a few years I visited it again and was touched by the versatility of cacti from all over the world. Cesar Manrique, as he has done many times, created this cactus paradise in a beautiful natural location. And all this within walking distance from Charco.
THE DUCK POND
In Charco a lot of work has been done at the duck pond. Sand and stones have been removed. Unfortunately there were few volunteers present. Many winterers had already left. Fortunately divers and guests also helped. After the summer it will be tackled properly. With help from those who would like to contribute there is a WhatsApp group where you can sign up if you want to help. Many hands make light work.
LANZAROTE NEWS
The cyclepath from Costa Teguise to Arrecife has been renewed. At Los Marmoles a beautiful new section has been constructed. It is a bit of a climb but then you reach Lidl and Ikea or if you keep left towards Charco San Gines and if you continue cycling you can go all the way to Puerto del Carmen, according to reports.
Heavy rain in Lanzarote
Images of the heavy rain on Lanzarote were seen all over the world. CostaTeguise and Arrecife were particularly hard hit.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CESAR MANRIQUE
Daily Life
Water is always important on this island. Unfortunately there are leaks occasionally, right near our house. When we looked for the leak it turned out that the roots of our palm tree were in the way. Neighbors came to help and it turned out that the water supply pipe sat very deep. In a combined effort we dug deep until the cause became visible. We repaired part of the pipe but what to do with the tree? Many birds nest there and sing for us. Unfortunately they also defecate and branches sometimes fall off. The neighbors complained earlier that it had to be cut back. Is this now the final blow for the tree that gives us a lot of shade?
