There’s a lot going on in Charco. Not just with the construction work, but Charco is putting itself in the picture. Here’s a list:
* We have got our own flag. The colours of Lanzarote with the International Naturism symbol on it.
If you want to order it, please suggest what you want, the size, and how many, so we can place a joint order. Not everyone need to order individually. Johnny can tell you where to order.
*And on November 16th, a new website went online in twelve languages!

This website contains all sorts of information about Charco. If you want to organise an activity, create an item yourself. If you create an activity or event, write it in English, and it will automatically appear in twelve languages.

I was touched that everything from almost three years can be found in my own language.
There are now even videos of Stephan Hohlweg’s recitals. I couldn’t fit those in the newsletter.

HOW TO BEHAVE
The website also features a section on “How to Behave.” This is important because people sometimes feel unsafe in Charco.
This is because some people view naturism as a free and open way to practise sex.
The website offers tips on what to do if you are approached inappropriately or if you witness it happening near you.
Shutting up the unfinished houses has had a positive effect on reducing visitors for the meeting place there.
If we want to keep Charco safe, we must work together to make clear that we will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour.
NEW: NAKED DIVING
Raoul, from the North Diving School in Arrieta, has indicated that people who want to dive naked without a wet-suit are welcome, but keep in mind that it can be quite cold under water.
LANZAROTE NEWS
*HARIA VIEWPOINT
Some time ago, the Mirador de Haria was built. Getting there is difficult, however. There are few parking spaces and limited opening hours. It’s supposed to be open on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and with a bit of luck, you might find a parking spot. Now it’s lit up as well, but I haven’t been able to find out whether you can visit at night. But it’s a beautiful sight. (• About Haria •)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS
The most significant archaeological finds at Playa Blanca are those at the San Marcialde Rubicón site, including earlier discoveries of a dozen skeletons, more recent discoveries of three additional skeletons, and a lime kiln, making the site the first European settlement in the Canary Islands. The archaeological area is located near Playa de las Mujeres beach, and the lime kiln is one of the most spectacular recent discoveries.
Location: The San Marcial de Rubicón site is located near Playa de las Mujeres beach, in Papagayo.
Major Finds:
Skeletons: Previous finds have included a dozen skeletons, and more recent excavations have yielded three additional skeletons.
Lime Kiln: A recently discovered lime kiln is the first to be found during an archaeological dig on Lanzarote. The kiln is partially carved out of rock and still holds some of its last contents of lime and stone.
Significance: the site is historically important because it is the site of the first European settlement in the Canary Islands. The lime kiln may have been used for the settlement’s construction, as lime has also been found in the excavated walls.
I found the image I’ve called the Sphinx of Papagayo at Papagayo Beach myself. But as you could read more discoveries have been made.
IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CESAR MANRIQUE
San José Castle
San José Castle is not only one of César Manrique’s many sites on Lanzarote, but also one of Arrecife’s must-see attractions. You can explore it on your own to maximize your time, or join a free tour and discover all the gems of Arrecife’s historic center, such as the Charco de San Ginés (San Ginés Lagoon) and the Puente de las Bolas (Bridge of the Balls).
Although this fortress was built in the 18th century, it remains intact to this day. Here, the Canaria artist began a renovation project and opened the prestigious International Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC).
This is the first contemporary art museum in the Canary Islands and houses a collection of artworks by renowned artists such as Miró and Picasso, as well as other international, national, and local artists. There are also temporary exhibitions and cultural activities, so you can browse the program and visit whenever you like.
The restaurant serves a tasting menu featuring a selection of the finest wines from La Geria’s vineyards. If you’re not in the mood for that, you can simply enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of the entire bay and the harbour of Naos.

DAILY LIFE
If you walk along the coast towards Arrieta, you’ll eventually come across a circle in the sand. It was a spiral of nine circles. It had been there for a long time, but suddenly it disappeared. Until someone made a better one, but with four rings. On the left side, a little further from the coast, there were also many stones.I thought, “Let me try it too.” At the beginning of the year, I managed to create a spiral of four layers. It was a beautiful figure in the landscape. After a long time, I went back to look. Unfortunately, all the stones had been knocked over. There was nothing left of my spiral, and the other beautiful big one was gone also. I was disappointed, I had to process this for a moment. What should I do? The stones were still there. I decided to give it another try. It wasn’t too difficult since the material was still close by. In an hour it was there again. When I finished, a man with two huskies came by. One Huskie paid me a visit while I was resting on a rock. He licked one side of my neck, then the other.
That was my reward. Great!
